Hello! Mavis here!

Well coming to the end of the this module is quite sad , quite enjoyed writing it.  It has been beneficial into the fact it has made me view as an artist the idea of my audiences being out there.

 How to think this out and to enlighten my understanding toward interactive communication.  I have also out of this got my idea of my studying for my dissertation.  I am going to look at exclusion of the poor from exhibitions in being able to  view great works of art.

HELLO!

I'm exhausted. not finished my work yet - problems with scanner- I will have to do without i think.  Thinking about the summer.  I've got the chance I think of putting on a small exhibition early next year.  I will have to start sorting it out in the summer.  I have learned from this experience of being involved with putting on the Antrum show how much work is involved and how long it takes and also the co-ordination of all the elements to be spot on.  I have a few friends who are interested in joining me - so we shall see....

These are the photographs of the College window referred to in the last posting - they disappeared off the radar when I published it!  The  b/w image is the interior one. 

  Mavis here again - took these pics of the window that I would like to use to display my artwork as refered to in  my blog (24th March).  These veiws are from the outside looking in.  I  will over the sunmmer design a piece of work that can be transfered onto acetate that will fit the window.  I will take into account the veiwing audiences -both the ones from the inside (students, tutors, college auxilery staff and college visitors etc) and the external college audiences-(bus passengers, pedestrians of all types and tastes, people waiting at the bus stop etc).  This will take a while to think through but I will rise to the challenge and through processes of ideas, experiment,practicalities and elimination come up with something that I will be able to put forward and propose and that will be agreeable to myself and the college for me to be able to display the work. I could get really excited about this if I let myself loose on the idea!

well... I have been a long time haven't I?

Went back to view the exhibition with a new eye (not literally!) - wasn't impressed!  some of the work had been sold and there were gaps in the displays were the bought pieces had been removed - the retaining fittings etc were left on the boards - it looked absolutely awful/ghastly?  there were people coming through and viewing the work , but not commenting much to their companions (observed), considering this is billed as Leeds Art Fair - Contemporary Art in the public arena - it wasn't very engaging with large gaps of empty wall space (except for the screws that were still in place).  perhaps this show could have been the exhibit itself in this form.  (just a thought).  Another point that I will make is what what did the title imply by having 'Contemporary' in the shows title - did it mean literally art that has just been made?  or did it mean in the style of the present position of contemporary art practice, because there was some very traditional type of work included in the exhibits.  I can understand why these pieces were included in the exhibition (they were very well crafted) when considering the venue (public thoroughfare) but the title was a little ambiguous.
